Consortium
A shared library of validated device models and workloads.
What it is.
Members contribute validated models of their devices, plus workloads, into a shared library. Other members simulate against those models to validate network designs they could not otherwise test without buying and racking the hardware.
Members come from three categories
- Data center operators
- Network-semiconductor vendors
- Network-system vendors
Individual members are not named here. Any member is identified publicly only once their disclosure wording is approved in writing.
Binaries during simulation, never source. Revocable by the contributor.
How a contributor’s intellectual property is protected while other members simulate against it.
Supplied as binaries
A contributed device model is used during simulation as a binary. Source is never distributed to other members, so contributing a model does not hand a competitor your implementation.
Revocable
Access is revocable by the contributor. A vendor that changes its mind about who may simulate against its part can withdraw that access.
What this program is not.
It is a device-model and workload library for network validation. It is not a data-sharing scheme, a trace-contribution program, or a benchmarking cohort, and joining it does not commit you to any of those.
If we ever run a program of that kind, it will launch under its own name with its own terms, and it will not inherit this membership list.
